Different types of Internet Connections

a.Dial-up-Connection: Basically this is used in Home computers and now it is outdated. It connects Internet through telephone lines whenever needed.

b.Leased Line Connection: This connects using special communication lines (like optical fibers) which provide Internet connection throughout the day to us.

c.Cable TV Network: This connects us to Internet using satellite link which is becoming more popular in India and other countries.

d.Digital Subscriber Line (DSL): This is 140 times faster than the modems available in our country. DSL modem becomes faster because it uses special type of copper wires. DSL modem works in two different ways. Frequency below 4 Kilo Hertz is kept for sound transfer and the frequency above that is used for other types of data transfer. DSL modem can download information at a speed of 64 KB to 1.5MB per second.

When we register with the Internet Service Provider, they provide us the user name, password and email address. Your password must be kept very confidential. Moreover, to keep it confidential, change the password frequently (which we are not interested to do) and use numbers and other signs together with alphabets to fool spam.
