E-Commerce : Computer, advanced inventions in IT. Internet and commerce have joined hands together, to form e-commerce or electronic commerce. One of the advantage of e-commerce is that we can make transactions throughout the day and throughout the year.
Dealers, banks, distributors and consumers are members in this network which is connected to computers. The members in this network can pass any information to other members. The costing of products, exchange of tenders, placing of orders, confirmation of order and sending bills are some of the activities done through e-commerce. In a nutshell all transactions of a firm can be done through this.
A dealer can send the order received by him to the company through computer and the company directs their warehouse to dispatch the goods to the customer. A copy of the invoice will be sent to the dealer. Lot of man power and time can be saved by this way which reduces expenses. The expenses on telephone, fax etc and the difficulties created by the middlemen can be avoided. There are two types of e-commerce - Business to Business and Business to Consumer.
1. Business to Business : Business to Business improves the efficiency of companies. In this network of e-commerce, company, dealers, banks and suppliers are connected.
The communication between them becomes faster because company can pass information to the members of the network through computers. In short it helps the company to handle all transactions immediately.
Considering the shortage of the basic needs for the companies in our country, Business to Business e-commerce has become a basic necessity.
2. Business to Consumer: Different from what mentioned above, a company can directly contact a consumer. This will protect consumers from the exploitation of the middlemen.
