CAUSES FOR DIABETES

CAUSES FOR DIABETES
The stronger the family history, the greater the chances of developing
Diabetes. This proves that heredity plays an important part in diabetes
that shows up during middle or old age. Diabetesin
such cases begins after a bout of prolonged illness, sometimes by
accident but often it comes without any prior warning. The other causes
are :
1. Obesity and over-nutrition
2. Lack of exercise
3. Mental stress
4.  Drugs
5. Age and repeated infections

We will here elaborate the points.
1. Obesity: Excess fat in the body ' brings out' diabetes much earlier in individuals
who have strong familial tendency.
2. Lack of Exercise :
Regular exercise helps to burn up the calories, prevent obesity and
activates the 'insulin receptors'. In those who are inactive, the
absence of these mechanisms can lead to diabetes.
3. Mental Stress:
Tension, anxiety, or the stress of surgery can aggravate or precipitate
diabetes in those with a genetic predisposition to the disease. When
diabetes is primarily the result of stress, it is referred to as "stress
 diabetes".
4. Drugs:
Some drugs can increase the blood sugar level and may reveal
pre-existing diabetes. The steroids commonly does this, while 'water
tablets', which eliminate fluid from the body, do so commonly.
5. Age and repeated infections:
Age and repeated infections cause diabetes in several cases. Infections
which occur again and again lower the body's resistance, making one
susceptible to diabetes.
