REST IN PEACE NIRBHAYA

At the end of 13 agonizing days, all prayers proved to be inadequate and at 2.15 am on Saturday Nirbhaya breathed her last.

Her father and mother were by her side at Singapore’s Mount Elizabeth Hospital since 6.30 pm on Friday when the doctors had virtually gave up all hope. The cardiac arrest she had on last Tuesday night was beginning to unravel with life-snuffing consequences.

PREVENTINGRAPRE

HARSHER PUNISHMENT: It could be death or chemical castration.

SENSITIZE POLICE : Cops must be sensitized on sexual harassment.

SPECIAL COURTS : Special courts to deal with rape and other sexual offences speedily.

BETTER PATROLLING : Grave need to increase patrolling vans.

USE TECHNOLOGY: Use GPS in all public transport. Extensive use of CCTVs on roads, buses and metro.

DATABASE OR PUBLIC TRANSPORT PERSONNEL : Urgent need for verification of drivers, conductors and cleaners of public service vehicles.
