CASH TRANSFER FOR COOKING GAS FROM NEXT JULY Get Aadhar Card and a bank Account. New Delhi: Come July and you will get your subsidy for buying cooking gas in your bank account, marking the biggest shift in delivery of doles to help the government check leakages and reduced the fiscal strain. The ambitious three phased deadline for a switch over based on Aadhar numbers was fixed by the Primer Minister's Office earlier this month. At a meeting chaired by Pulok Chatterjee, oil companies, finance and petroleum ministries and the Unique Identification (UID) Authority agreed to put in place a cash transfer mechanism in 50 districts with high Aaadhar penetration by January 1,2013. By April 1, all districts in states allocated to Aadhar, have to be completed and by July 1, the entire country has to be covered.

TECHNODRIVE 2012 ATTRACTS THOUSANDS IN KOCHI Recruitment drive expected to provide Jobs to Hundreds Kochi: Techno Drive, the recruitment drive organised by Ernakulam district employment exchange at kakkanad on Monday attracted thousands. Students and those working in various call centres in ITES firms constituted the major chunk of the job aspirants. According to the officials with the district employment exchange "Technodrive" is expected to provide employment for around 1000 persons. KERALITE, 2 PILOTS KILLED IN GOA COPTER CRASH Three Navy personnel, including Keralite, harish Krishnan, Chief Air Artificer, were killed instantly when a Chetak helicopter crashed and caught fire at Goa's  Dabolim International Airport on Monday Morning. Officers on board were identified as Lt. Cdr. Dharmendra Singh and Lt Rahul Tiwari. The body of Harish Krishnan, who hails from haripad, Alappuzha, will be brought by a special aircraft to the Naval air station in Kochi on Tuesday. A naval team will take his body to harippad, where his final rites will be held with full military honours. 

FLATS WILL GET MORE LPG CYLINDERS Kochi: The six cylinder cap on subsidized LPG refills has been scrapped. The oil ministry has decided to lift the cap on six subsidized LPG cylinders for flats with reticulated gas connection irrespective of a number of dwelling units in it. An apartment complex with reticulated system will not be considered as a single unit. Each flat in the complex will be counted as a separate unit entitled for subsidized LPG. they will not be entitled for six subsidized cylinders provided they don't have individual domestic connections, an official of the Indian Oil Corporation told here. "Being a directive from the oil ministry, it will be applicable to all the oil companies across the country" he said.

POST BOXES GET A NEW ADDRESS IN STATE Kochi: Snail mail like steam locomotive may have only vintage value. But the postal department, one of the last redoubts on an era when lost-transit had life threatening implications, is busy reinventing itself. Concerned that many of its quaint red post boxes are in an unused and derelict state, the department is planning to relocate boxes with little or no intake of daily mail to areas where they might still serve a purpose. According to the rationalization plan, one third of the over 35000 post boxes attached to 12000 odd post offices in the state will be relocated.

TOYOTA TO RECALL 8700 CARS IN INDIA Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) on Wednesday said it is recalling select models of its Corolla Altis and Camry cars to inspect the power window master switch (PWMS). Toyota also recalled 7.43 million vehicles globally. TKM said it will recall Corolla Altis manufactured between July 30, 2008, and December 31, 2008, and Camry made between September 1, 2006 and July 1, 2008 on a voluntary basis. TKM will recall 8700 vehicles in India to inspect the PWMS. on certain Corolla Altis and Camry models of the specified years, the PWMS may begin to feel notchy or become inoperative, the company said.
